The Mother Matters Project

Postpartum abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic oil massage performed on the mother after childbirth to support physical recovery and promote relaxation.

I use warm, medicated herbal oils chosen for their balancing, nourishing, and healing properties to soothe muscles, improve circulation, and support uterine involution.

The massage is gentle, rhythmic, and restorative, focusing on the back, abdomen, limbs, and joints to relieve stiffness, reduce swelling, and ease postpartum discomfort.

Beyond physical benefits, postpartum abhyanga supports emotional well-being by reducing stress, improving sleep, and helping the mother feel cared for during the vulnerable postnatal period.
